How You Can Help
Every year thousands of mentally ill people suffer from lack of treatment and the stigma surrounding their disease.
So far we have been able to help transform the lives of over 45,000 mentally ill people but there are many, many more people that need our help, people like Nazru.
Nazru is a six year old child who lives in rural Tanzania. He has Attention Deficiency Syndrome which makes him wild, unruly and prone to run away from home for days on end.
He only has his elderly and frail grandmother to care for him – his parents abandoned him when he became too much to handle. The only way his grandmother can care for him is for her to tie him to her back and carry him around with her. The only rest she gets is when she chains him to her house when she makes meals.
She has tried medication from the local health centre but it doesn’t work. She says, “The doctor keeps telling me that Nazru should take the medicine with food, but where do I get the food? The hospital does not provide food!”
We rely on valuable donations from people like you to help us transform the lives of mentally ill people like Nazru and lift them out of the desperate situation they face.
Please read below about the ways that you could help make a difference today.
Did you know that depression accounts for 12.3% of the global burden of disease and this is set to rise to 15% by 2030? Your regular donation will help us meet this growing need and give us the security to plan for the future.
